Kayaking in the Mangroves

For the past couple of years, we have talked and talked about going kayaking, buying kayaks and where to store our kayaks (which we don't have~yet). It's been a very long discussion and now... we actually went kayaking here in Abu and we are totally hooked. I want to go everyday! In the Mangroves, you paddle your way around this lovely lagoon and narrow channels with Mangrove trees on either side. The water is clear and warm. There were birds of all varieties, big blue crabs, little black crabs~ everywhere~eeeekkkk!, fish and lots of sunshine. Oh yea, I got a little burned but just on my legs~ and that's after lathering up with sunscreen! The sun was out in its full regalia and I do love the sun but my skin doesn't. One little mishap though, which was a costly one, my little faithful Canon slipped into the sea. Someone told me that I shouldn't take it but as usual, I didn't listen to his wise advice. But he didn't even say it, the  "I told you so". He's a very big person. I'd feel a lot worse if it had been our very fancy nice one~ but a camera is a camera in my book. I did retrieve the few pics from the memory stick but the camera is a lost cause~ salted dog! Literally! So in a short while, we will be buying our own kayaks and we can store them by our auto in the parking garage. Yippeee!!! So here's to new adventures with our kayaks in tow! I think I need to pinch myself~ sometimes life here feels like a dream :-) Row, Row, Row your boat gently down the stream... life is but a dream
