My visit to the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque

This last week I went to the Grand Mosque here in Abu Dhabi. I am always in awe at the beauty of this religious edifice. I took some pictures and just wandered around the grounds which are immaculate and stunning too. There have been a few changes since I was here 3 years ago and the biggest was that there is no construction going on~ it's finished!
I also found this great short little video regarding the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque from the perspective of one of the tour guides~ I thought it was excellent and kind of gives you a look at the sight in real time~ sort of. As you might notice, all of the women who enter the mosque are covered in black. That is for respect of the religion and the mosque. They provide the shaya (hair covering) and abaya (long dress). I went on a breezy day so when I was outside and in too, mine kept flowing away and my shaya kept falling off my head to which one of the men workers would immediately come up and kindly tell me to cover. I decided that next week I am going to purchase my own so when I do enter these places I will not have to use the ones provided and will hopefully fit better and stay closed :-) Anywho, please take a look at the video~ it's worth the few minutes to watch.
