Abu Dhabi Style! |
I DO love the heat but... 111 is stretching it :-) That was the temperature a couple of days ago. My walking along the Corniche has come to a sad halt since I don't plan on getting heat stroke before I go stateside in a few days. Even going out at 6am is a sizzling experience. What do people do in this heat? They stay inside. The streets are literally empty in the afternoons and the construction workers are all taking a nap. No joke. I see them everywhere asleep; under trees, out in the open, in the dirt, on the sidewalk around my building. I feel sorry for them but after a few hours they are back working in the heat. Funny thing, they are all more heavily dressed. They say it insulates them from the heat and since they are all middle eastern and have grown up in this heat, I guess they know. One thing they don't have though is DEODORANT! When I get in a cab, some drivers don't use it and it is... ghastly! I roll down the window and sometimes choke on the odor. I think I'm going to start carrying around with me some mens trial size sticks and hand them out. But I'm not sure they would even know what to do with it. When we flew over here there was a young man in front of us that was handed a stick by a fellow passenger when we landed (a hint I suppose~hehe!), and he "dabbed" it on his neck and wrists like cologne! It was hilarious!! So they might just use it as sunscreen or hair gel or maybe even foot cream! Any who, it's HOT here in the desert and I'm happy as can be that I'm going to lovely Washington and Oregon for 10 days where the weather is a balmy 75... I love the Northwest! So if you think you would like to visit us, summer is not the time to come so wait until at least October and then stay until March when it starts heating up. Me, I'm a desert rat like my Papa~ I LOVE the heat! Oh, one more thing- we are now the official wearers of prescription sunglasses! Yippeeeee! No more squinting and they are definitely Abu Dhabi style :-)

So happy for you that you can come to the States! I am with you-I love the heat, so I guess it is good that we're in almost triple digits here in Mesquite. Come July, we'll be hitting around 115. Have a see trip and enjoy those grand babies!
