My multi-cultural...salad!

Today I decided to make a salad for dinner. Going to the store is always an adventure for me. The fruits and vegetables are such an education! So, my lettuce is from California, my cukes are from India, the peppers~India, the tomatoes~Spain and the carrots are from ?~~ I have forgotten where the carrots are from :-( and I decided to add some fish ~ from Thailand! They grow very little here in the UAE so most all of the fruits and veg's are imported. Close by is the port of Abu Dhabi where there is a huge fruit & vegetable and fish market. I don't usually go there because it's so CRAZY!! Lots of people, and vendors coaxing you into their venue (picture Tijuana). The fish market is smelly but you come out with fresh fish. They will even take care of the cleaning and de-heading(not sure if this is proper English but you get it, right?)!! Which pretty much makes it worth going! But Bob doesn't like fish and they don't usually have salmon (my fav) so that is one place I will rarely go. One thing Bob does love is bacon. So we went to a store that is a bit more westernized called Spinneys and in a special cordoned off room in the back they have all pork products. So lucky for the big guy~ he gets his bacon! Muslims don't eat pork so that's why it's in a "hidden" room~ I feel so sneaky when I'm back there. lol!
