One last trip to Oman...Muscat & Salalah

We are rushing around trying to do as many things as we can before we leave the beautiful Middle East. So we packed our bags and headed to Oman to see beautiful Muscat and to explore a new place for us; Salalah, which is on the southern most coast of Oman. It took us a little longer to get there than we thought as we drove through the never ending desert. We tried to play the alphabet game, but the signs were all in arabic or non-existent :- So we went for the alphabet game by way of anything outside of the car...we were so creative and it helped us pass all of 30 minutes! About half way, we saw a playground and decided to stop and stretch. It was a very old playground but I went on the swings and would have gone on the slide but it was totally rusted out. Bob of course took pictures and thought I was crazy! When we arrived in Salalah, we were in for such a shock. It is a beautiful, tropical coastal city with bananas and coconuts growing everywhere. It is surrounded on the non coastal side by the mountains so it can have monsoon weather and more rain. The beaches were stunning, the mountains were magnificent and they even claim to have the remains of Job from the bible in a Mausoleum that we visited at the top of a mountain. We hiked and drove to see many archaelogical sites; it was a fabulous place. For those of you who know about Nephi, this is the place that many scholars think he came to after 8 long years of traveling and built the ship to sail to the America's. If this is true, I can see how happy they were to arrive there; it was a little bit of Paradise!
